GIANT is American Giant's first magazine. An editorial publication centered on people in pursuit. Not athletes with sponsors or influencers with audiences, but individuals doing meaningful, unconventional work fueled by genuine passion. Across two issues, we styled, photographed, interviewed, and designed the stories of people like "Hot Shot" wildfire fighters in Tahoe and Sean Brock, a master of Southern cooking. My responsibility was the graphic design and visual identity of the magazine. The photography sets the scene with confidence and personality, so I made a deliberate choice to let the design follow that lead. Layout collaboration happened in Figma, final production in InDesign, and I worked directly with Thomas Group Printing in NYC to deepen my understanding of the print process firsthand.

The primary medium was newsprint, which to be fair, was a humbling constraint. Newsprint is unforgiving with CMYK color management, requiring a fundamentally different approach to how color behaves on the page compared to coated stock. I also developed digital landing page versions of each issue, extending the magazine's reach beyond its physical run.

GIANT isn't a catalog. It doesn't ask for a transaction. It builds something harder to manufacture than a garment. It builds trust, culture, and a community that believes in what the brand stands for. Bringing that kind of elevated storytelling to a clothing brand is my most critical creative mission.
